Leads Leads Leads... ???


In this post I am going to

1. Define what is a "lead"

2. Discuss ways to generate them

Let me start by saying there are many many ways that people generate leads. What I am about to outline is not any sort of exhaustive list, just ways that are working for me.

OK..... Let's take a look at what is a "lead"

A lead can be defined as someone for whom you have received contact information. This can happen several ways. For example, you have a capture page or form posted and someone fills it out look for "more info". Or perhaps you have someone who passed along someone's info as a "referral" and said "hey, give Joey a call" Very IMPORTANT .... A lead is NOT a prospect!! (in a future blog we will talk about prospects and pipelines)

So now that we have a good and simple understanding of a "lead" we can dive into How To Generate Leads

The first place anyone typically goes is Online... Yes? ... Yes!

So let's start with Online and let's go to Social Media.

Social Media is perhaps the best place to generate Leads

A couple quick and easy ways is to create "Groups"

You can create groups in Facebook, Google+ (G+ calls them communities but same basic principle) and even LinkedIn for all sorts of interests. If you are looking to build a Home Based Business, you can create Work at Home (type) groups. You can then start inviting others and allowing everyone to add more people to your groups. The BIG advantage of creating and managing your own groups is simple. Everyone who joins your group is a potential lead. See how awesome that could be? There are groups on facebook with over 50,000 people interacting and many who are "Looking" for a great business, opportunity, product or service.

Another way is to invest in some sort of system that allows for building Capture Pages. A Capture Page is designed to do what it says, capture details of people who visit your website or blog. If you in search of a good system please visit TCP and all in one complete system. These people who compete this form are Leads (not prospects) Another great way and one IMO that you MUST have, is to create and maintain a Blog (like this one). You can use many free resources like Wix, Wordpress and some others. Putting out good content and value will get people not only reading, subscribing but also sharing with their network. Getting your name and brand out there will generate leads for you! Lastly, and maybe the best one of all, that most people don't ever get involved in, is Facebook ads. Facebook has done an amazing job of creating a system of likes and interests and allows you to drill down into those with SPOT-ON targeting! The key ..... is to actually implement one, some or all of these and take your business from a hobby to one that actually pays you and allows you to live the lifestyle you want!
